Anyone else have so many meetings you’re not sure when to get your work done? Yeah. Here is a daily moment of zen (or three) in an attempt to help me (and you) remember to breathe

Look. It’s been a long day. Long week even. Be like Josie: get your favorite skunk toy, play with it, let it fall on your head, and then take a nap #easypeasy

A timeline cleanser: Josie asleep on our bed. You’re welcome

Day 4 of conferencing on the west coast and I guess I’m no longer fighting the fact that my body insists on living on East coast time. Good morning #AEJMC25

I never realize how big this country is until I try to get to the west coast. A 4-hr bus ride followed by a 6.5hr flight to get from BGR to SFO. oy #aejmc25

I spend about 25 hrs weeek offline. I will use my phone when people text me, but no email, no social media, no news. Lately, it has been the thing that keeps me sane. I realize ignoring the news for a day is privilege but oh boy do I recommend it. Now. What battles are we fighting tonight?

As we talk about the cheerful insanity of Australia's Social Media Ban again this morning, here's your periodical reminder that the book it's inspired by - The Anxious Generation - is hogwash.

Not just me saying it, but this little journal you might have heard of: Nature.

The great rewiring: is social media really behind an epidemic of teenage mental illness?
Nature - The evidence is equivocal on whether screen time is to blame for rising levels of teen depression and anxiety — and rising hysteria could distract us from tackling the real causes.

This summer I learned that all I really need to be happy is water and sun. Like a houseplant. Y’all, I am a houseplant.

For this summer's online class, I recorded the video on "Rules about AI use" in a pool hall & asked students if the background was AI-generated (husband was playing a tournament). Surprising find: All students think it's AI-generated. Then again: Who would actually record a video in a pool hall?

A very fond goodbye to #ica25. It was amazing as usual (maybe even more so), and I’m sad to have to leave! For those staying for Day 5: be sure to check out @saramgrady.bsky.social and my paper on enjoyment this morning!

Lots of interesting takeaways from the MADEU24 project incl finding that the hostile misinformation effect - whereby ppl believe misinformation is mostly directed at their political side- is stronger as political interest party liking, and ideological extremity increases. #ica25

While I’m learning about misinformation and fact checking at #ica25 my husband took our dog bouldering up a local mountain back in Maine. I am biased but dang that is cute.

At the "Science under fire" session at #ica25: Great speakers and excellent takeaways: Create connections with decision makers; don't be afraid to dig into endowment to keep research going; communicate about yr research and why it matters; and keep on keeping on it. This matters.
