Sara Piffer. 19 years old. Talented Italian cyclist.

Tragically killed by a driver trying to overtake another car.

Absolutely heart-breaking, and incredibely infuriating. ๐Ÿ’”

My thoughts are with Sara's family and friends. ๐Ÿ™

Once again, I want to say thank you to the Rayner foundation for the support for the last 2 years. I am disappointed not to be supported by them for 2025 going to be tough to make it work.

Thoughts and prayers with Tuur and family and friends๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
Seems like there's far too many this year alone I am good friends with some of his team mates but this is the 3rd rider I have known of personally this year alone that has passed away.

No one wants to crash but sometimes there's nothing you can do in a situation without endangering other riders

This is stage 1 of tour of namur this year and the run in was a 70kph down hill with 2 super tight corners and was some how marked as safe but it's also the riders responsibility to look after eachother and ensure safety in the peloton and it's something that doesn't get reflected enough is

I can't see a reasonable way to slow down the riders, there is the way of adding a chichane like in Roubaix ahead of arenberg but that's not always going to be viable when you have 180 riders flying into a corner at 70kph with 1km to go and only 5 riders can come out at the front
November 22, 2024 at 3:30 PM
As a rider Im not too sure how to feel about this, races need to be alot safer but with the sport at a point of professionalism that it's at and with even amateur races averaging over 50kph in Belgium the level is higher than ever and organisers are trying harder than ever to make a safe environment

There's a lot in pros in Spain but I think I would personally ride in these conditions, yes it's a bit cold but feel like it makes you a little tougher mentally if you have no other way of generating heat other than pedaling a bit harder and just putting up with the conditions no matter what.
