🌍 Excited to share our new study, led by Isabel Barrio and a fantastic team, on Arctic herbivores and their role in ecosystem resilience. We highlight 8 research + 8 management priorities for the next decade. A roadmap for a changing Arctic! ❄️🦌 @herbivoryn.bsky.social doi.org/10.1139/as-2...
Emerging priorities in terrestrial herbivory research in the Arctic
Herbivores are an integral part of Arctic terrestrial ecosystems, driving ecosystem functioning and sustaining local livelihoods. In the context of accelerated climate warming and land use changes, un...

One of my favorites: reindeer not only support tundra vegetation but also promote local trophic interactions in the face of Climate Change.

Reindeer grazing reduces climate‐driven vegetation changes and shifts trophic interactions in the Fennoscandian tundra
Herbivores drive shifts in plant species composition by interacting with vegetation through defoliation, trampling and nutrient addition: urine and faeces. As herbivore effects on vegetation accumula...

Applied ecology of fear: A meta‐analysis on the potential of facilitating human‐wildlife coexistence through nonlethal tools
Our meta-analysis suggested that acoustic cues hold most potential as a tool to manage deer behaviour. These findings support the development of applied ecology of fear tools that introduce predator ...

New paper out! On estimating mammal density using vertically oriented #cameratraps. Yes we can!
This works in forests that have vandalism, fire, or elephants. Or all three, like Bardia National Park, Nepal.
