Trying to get a sense of how we, as a society, think about the relationship between drugs like cannabis and serious mental illness? Do we do enough to deter use amongst the young and vulnerable? Where's the definitive research on the undoubted connection?

I'm still trying to process the trauma of being the mother of a seriously mentally ill son within a 'system' that stonewalls rather than listens, uses sledgehammer chemicals rather than therapeutic treatments and repeatedly puts the seriously unwell back out into the community to be 'cared' for.

Won't be giving up my day job anytime soon but, in memory of my son, who took himself out of this world rather than continue a battle with his own mind which he feared he could not win, I will do everything I can, for as long as I can, to change our inadequate approach to serious mental illness

Given my world shattering experience last year (fallout from which continues as the psychiatric hospital pursues its internal investigation) its no surprise to me or those closest to me that raising mental illness issues has become a big part of my life. I now have a substack.
