Under-appreciated fact: breeding for more traits means slower improvement on each one.

Here we are testing if low-tunnels can help us evaluate tolerance to freeze damage after jointing for different #wheat varieties. The low-tunnel gets the plots into reproductive growth earlier.🤞 Then we remove the tunnel to expose them to cold temps.

We are now offering a 3-day weekend workshop on high-throughput phenotyping. Participants will learn how to set up and operate a UAS system, obtain phenotypes from aerial image data & analyze the phenotypic data in ways useful for crop research or breeding applications.

Our yield trials are off to a good start.

Some non-uniform emergence in some trials due to heavier residue in spots + dry conditions after planting. We all know variation in soil fertility is a key cause of error in trials, but I think variation in residue is another big one.
