"Social networking and media should have always been temporal. These should be thoughts and creations you're okay with letting go of into the wind." nazhamid.com/journal/less...

I've always thought of social media like this. This is why I never cared to download an archive of my social media posts.

Social media is a trap.

Dammit people, add alt text to your images! So many times I see awesome art or cool comics, but can't repost it, because it's not accessible.

Tutorials used to create tutorial hell, but I feel like after quite a few recent conversations, there is a new "hell" for beginners.

ChatGPT Hell.

I am meeting so many beginners that rely on ChatGPT to deliver all of the code and answers but they do not know what is going:

If you are feeling impostor syndrome, you are probably on a path to higher income, higher levels and achieving new things. Impostor syndrome never attacks the content, it attacks the achievers.

"Tends to talk about alt text more than small talk". As someone who's not good with small talk, I can confirm this is true. 😆

So much this. Bluesky loves links. As @hankgreen.bsky.social says "people click on stuff and they leave the site, they leave! and they read articles!". I love how excited we all are about the open web. Our timeline is healing. Click on the video, and enjoy it on hankschannel! youtu.be/D4ghgVq9z4M

sweet! DNS on skykit.blue has resolved!

You can now check inactive accounts you're following!

add `/inactive` to the URL on your profile click the button wait (dependant on accounts you follow)

See accounts not posted in a while, do they follow back etc!

See @jay.bsky.team's example!

Social media is in desperate need of innovation. Meta is only letting you have a slice of control over what you see because Bluesky is here building for you.
We wrote on Saturday about how Meta is going all-out to meet the threat of Bluesky: wapo.st/3OrYxBj

Today they took another step— finally allowing users to set their default feeds to a chronological “following” feed.

I must admit that I never really had a problem with X.

Met some amazing people on the platform, and ignored most of the extremes.

But the algorithm now is so tiktok like that everything becomes a lot less fun.

if you have a @github.com profile, can i ask you to update it with your @bsky.app handle? 🙏

👉 it enables some very cool integrations, like auto curated feeds and starter packs for contributors and tech

💡 Tip: You can set your website as your username on Bluesky!

This is one form of self-verification, and we especially encourage official organizations and brands to do this! Examples include @npr.org @react.dev @duolingobrasil.com.br.

Here's our guide for how to do this:
How to set your domain as your handle - Bluesky
Using a domain as your handle helps with account identity, verification, and portability. Here's how to set your domain as your handle.

If you don't have your own domain to use as a handle, but you have github you can use github pages!

This should work.... @w3cj.github.io

Just create the .well-known/atproto-did file and also create a _config.yml file to include the folder. Example here: github.com/w3cj/w3cj.gi...
GitHub - w3cj/w3cj.github.io: w3cj
