HELLO Bluesky. I'm James, and I very much miss #WritingCommunity and #amwriting in the unspeakable realm of twitlords.

I like rabbits and write middling sci-fi.

Wanna be friends?? (I am not infectious and definitely a human being with the human average amount of fingers and teeth).πŸ™ƒ
One of my favorites of the year!! (I was so hooked I bought the DLC as well lol, even though it was 30 (not on sale) and I got the base game for 30...)

it's SO GOOD. only complaint is that i fell so deeply in love with the first zone that i wanted it to continue 2-3x as long :(

Thanks for your work :) Andromeda is an underappreciated masterpiece (imo)

one of the best things i was ever told is, "better to be prolific than perfect"

the painful (and no-win) dilemma of
a. bury my hand in the sand, or
b. doomscroll for hours and feel appalled by pretty much everything relating to the real world
September 9, 2025 at 8:08 PM
i hope it goes well! (and look forward to seeing it if you share it here)
September 9, 2025 at 7:49 PM
Yep! creative nonfic uses real-life stuff (could be autobiographical, for example), and then it's constructed in a more fictiony/literary way, with dialogue and scene structure and all that. So like, instead of just describing your childhood at a distance, you show it through real-time scenes

if apple promised to go full butlerian jihad on AI integration in their products for the next century, i would gladly join the iPhone cult
September 9, 2025 at 7:31 PM
Yeah, that's true. Palantir is the dark horse that might wind up hosting our uploaded pleb consciousness to work the asteroid belts in spider-mech bodies (not to make it sound too cool, ofc)
September 9, 2025 at 7:30 PM
at least you made everything look like the sense data of a malfunctioning cyberpunk biomod (which is rad to be clear)
September 9, 2025 at 7:25 PM
fwiw, i'd really like to read the list if/when you make it?? I feel like I've fallen super far behind (lies of p is really the only standout i got sucked into)
September 9, 2025 at 7:20 PM
i'm convinced they're trying to astroturf us into liking sheets of aerogel with tiktok videos on them
September 9, 2025 at 7:18 PM
True!! There's a ton of derivative... stuff... in fantasy/scifi/indie markets, no doubt, but at least those iterations have a compelling reason to try to add something of interest to human readers with human interests. AI is trained by a "committee of billions," so it has no appeal to anybody
September 9, 2025 at 7:14 PM
so if "mainstream," "well-to-do" megacorps are taking part in this shit, one has to wonder what anduril and palantir are doing in reports that have yet to be leaked
September 9, 2025 at 7:11 PM
First off, sorry to hear about the shoulder (I've messed mine up bad a lot in recent years lol). There's some really sleek models from Asus (zenfone) and the S24 galaxy is also solid, but obv the galaxy is more expensive and might be overkill for your needs

the weirdest thing to me is how ai "authors" can't seem to notice the poor quality, maybe bc they don't read/write much on their own? like forget the em dash thing, even the sentence structure and puddle-deep storytelling is trash (despite exobytes of scraped data + years of humans training models)
September 9, 2025 at 6:47 PM
motorola power. durable + dummy thicc but also harvard-educated (except when it comes to camera quality πŸ™ƒ)
September 9, 2025 at 6:42 PM
This is gorgeous!!! Which Bioware projects did you/have you worked on, if I may ask?
September 9, 2025 at 6:39 PM
been about a month of taking meds after getting a formal ADHD diagnosis at 32.
pros: can actually focus on creative work again, can do lots of housework, can engage in convos w/o getting sidetracked
cons: still need to corral the attention span. otherwise, 5+ hours locked in on youtube video essays
September 9, 2025 at 6:38 PM
my unsolicited rec (sorry for necroposting) is to do HK first, bc it's far more self-contained and less likely to overwhelm. NMS will keep you busy for literal years, esp if you do the backlog of expeditions (self-contained "questlines")
September 9, 2025 at 6:34 PM
yeah, my wife always thinks i'm joking when i ask if (museums/libraries/large shopping centers) have a downloadable map. the struggle is very real (i am glad you survived)
September 9, 2025 at 6:32 PM
RAD. Do you have a sketch of it? I'm far too invested already (mainly bc i was considering an Erdtree design, so kindred soulslike, ya know)
September 9, 2025 at 6:30 PM
Sheath vs sheathe is another one that writers will (incorrectly) fight tooth and claw over when they get their edited draft back
September 9, 2025 at 6:22 PM
YES. THANK YOU. I had to literally add "I took a breath vs. I breathed in" to the style guide I sent out to authors. Mainly because one of them fought me over 4 (FOUR) emails and claimed "breath" (sans e) was the verb form
September 9, 2025 at 6:21 PM
Cheers. Looks like it might go great with the Lost City terrain on your etsy :)
