If we must have 'pride' in a sense of being 'British' I'd much rather it was about village life, rolling landscapes, vibrant cities, a brilliant creative arts scene and a pretty successful multicultural society (despite all the negativity about immigration). Football hooligans don't speak for me.

More snaps from our walk. It was a beautiful day for it.
A hedgerow full of Haws shining bright red in the sun, with blue sky and clouds behind. Gentle clouds in the sky, but enough to make a huge difference while walking. Jumper was on and off the whole way round. There was a deer seen from the footpath. It didn’t look real until it moved! Fields, trees and hedgerows looking lush and green after the rain we’ve had. You can see for miles across the Sussex Weald

⚠️ The fire risk in the South Downs remains very high this week.

Help protect habitats and wildlife by not lighting open fires or BBQs in the National Park and also taking all litter home with you.
