I’ve been a subscriber of @rollingstone.com since 1988. Today was my last day.

Usually I renew my subscription every 2 years, but I found they recently auto renewed my subscription w/o my permission at an incredibly high rate. They refunded me and cancelled my subscription.

It’s a very sad day.

#Kiss Destroyer (1978) is a classic album with an iconic album cover, but is it any good? I’m not sure. The hits shine the most. Shout It Out Loud is the highlight, while Beth grew on me. Flaming Youth is just not good as are a handful of other forgettable songs.

#Rancid …and out Come the Wolves (1995) is 30 years old this year. I do remember listening to this years ago, but wrote it off at the time. Listening again all these years later, I really enjoyed the album. This is a reminder that punk didn’t die during the grunge era.

With the Dobby nip-slip as the exception, the #snl premiere was underwhelming and a massive letdown.

The turnover in cast was unnoticeable. The look is the same, the sketches were largely the same. Bad Bunny had to carry the show himself. The stand-up Trump character just isn’t funny anymore.

#Prince 1999 (1982) dives into some sounds that he’d perfect on Purple Rain. It’s not my favorite of his albums. The hits are magnificent, but the deep tracks are largely forgettable. His talent and aura are intoxicating and loom throughout this album. #MusicSky

#Ozzy Blizzard of Ozz (1980) is a modern #metal classic. His voice is distinctive, powerful, and unforgettable. Every track feels elevated by his delivery. Randy Rhoads is masterful. His solo on Revelation is awesome. Crazy Train might be the greatest metal song ever.

Today’s Emmy snub for Black Doves just confirms what I already felt.. it really wasn’t that great. #TvSky

#MojoNixon Frenzy (1986) is a wild album. It’s funny, crude, goofy and sometimes cringy, but maybe that’s Mojo’s charm. Mojo can definitely sing and the music is pretty tight.

#TheBreeders Last Splash (1993) is an album I haven’t listened to in several years and what a mistake that’s been. This album absolutely holds up and I think it’s better now than 30 yrs ago. Excellent deep tracks like Invisible Man, etc are so, so good. #MusicSky

Favs: Divine Hammer, Invisible Man

#MinorThreat Out Of Step (1983) is an excellent #punk album. The music is aggressive and the lyrics and vocals are full of angst, which is what you’d expect. There are some great songs on this album that I’m sure to listen to regularly in the future. #MusicSky

Revisited #Elbow The Seldom Seen Kid (2008) after about a decade, and it’s pure joy. A few tracks are staples in my playlists, but the full album is special. Guy Garvey’s voice is so soothing you just want to curl up inside it. Such an excellent record. #MusicSky

#LCDSoundSystem This Is Happening (2010) is the first time I’ve listened to the band. Never even heard a song. This album is full of long, epic electronic tracks. Most of which are upbeat and keep you interested throughout. Enjoyed this one and will be back soon. #MusicSky

#TheBeatles Revolver (1966) is often ranked as their best album and it’s easy to see why. While I still feel Abbey Road edges it out just slightly, Revolver remains a masterpiece. I really focused on deeper cuts, and they shine just as much as the hits. #MusicSky

Favs: Love You To, Eleanor Rigby

#Khruangbin Con Todo El Mundo (2018) caught me off guard in the best way. Unfamiliar with the band, the more I listened, the more I enjoyed it. Mostly instrumental, it never feels like it’s missing anything. Great musicianship and a smooth, immersive vibe. #MusicSky

Favs: Shades of Man, August 10

There is no denying the #Ramones (1976) debut album. The songs are short, fast and in your face. Some of the tracks sound the same, but that’s ok. They are upbeat and the album moves quickly. Classic. #punk #MusicSky

This small a-la-cart orange chicken is $5.40!! The height on the container is shorter than my pinkie finger. This really shouldn’t be more than $3. Come on Panda Express, you can do us better than this. #FoodSky

#TomRobinsonBand Power in the Darkness (1978) is a sharp expression of 70s angst and liberal empowerment. Mixing punk, rock, and easy listening, it delivers a message that still hits hard today. A brilliant, underrated album. #MusicThreads

#DuranDuran debut (1981) is an album I never listened to completely. A solid debut album, but I was expecting more. Maybe it was the ethos surrounding the band built up in my head over the years. The singles shine, but the deep cuts didn’t do much for me. #MusicSky

Favs: Planet Earth, Girls On Film

#PeterGabriel So (1986) doesn’t sound like the ’80s, it feels like it. Less the sound but the mental images the songs bring to you. Sledgehammer’s video is iconic, and you can’t hear In Your Eyes without seeing John Cusack holding a boombox. Great album. #MusicSky

#TheOnlyOnes debut album (1978) is quite interesting. It’s rock at its core, but veers into punk, psychedelia, and big guitar solos. When you think they are moving in one direction, they go another. Not sure it’s a favorite, but it’s definitely got my attention. #MusicSky
