Preach. @jono.id

"This isn’t evolution. It’s self-inflicted complexity. And we’ve normalised it – because somewhere along the way, we started building websites for developers, not for users."

JavaScript broke the web (and called it progress)
We replaced simple websites with complex apps nobody asked for. Now it takes a complex build pipeline just to change a headline.

I know it's a small thing given the current state of the world, but does anyone else hate this Slack "feature" as much as I do? #slack #work #ux #enshittification

Has anyone got any research handy that proves that disabling copy/paste on input makes it more accurate?

It can't be right? Copy & paste vs. typing in a long number? No way it's less error prone.

It's definitely a worse experience for the user.

I’m looking at an old project I did solo in 2023 and I swear I don’t know who wrote any of this code! None of it looks familiar to me.

A goodbye to Mile High Hockey from Managing Editor Evan Liu
The time has come to move on to bigger and better things personally - but MHH isn’t going anywhere!

Pretty fun result if you Google search for “Squid Games Season 2” and tap the floating card.

What would our ancestors think if they saw this headline?

I finished reading Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandel this week and it rocked me in a good way. So I’m spending part of my Christmas binging the show on Max. It’s been great so far.

I've recently discovered Christmas Trap.

It's something.

Not sure what. But something.

It just hit me… I haven’t seen a single ad on Bluesky yet.

And no algorithms trying to force-feed me something they think is important.

This is why it feels so good here, it hasn’t been ruined yet.

Webpagetest.org got popular.

I like to read my feed in chronological order so it feels like I’m catching up to now.

But here when I load the app it takes me to the top of my feed with the latest and I have to read backwards.

Maybe this is a setting I can change somewhere? Or it’s just me who likes to “catch up” this way?

Beefcake and Eggs are excited to hang out here too.

TIL you can download the Bluesky iPhone app and run it on your Mac desktop. The window size is stuck but at least it's something.

Any better MacOS Bluesky apps out there?

Oh hey, what's up?
