I spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live about the Government’s changes to Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief.

Food security is national security, and these changes will help protect family farms across Derbyshire Dales.

What an absolute honour to be asked to take part in Cromford Mills’ Christmas Carol Service. Mince pies, mulled wine, carols and community - what a lovely start to the festive season.

Very proud to present Derbyshire Dales’ winning Christmas Card to the Speaker of the House of Commons. Congratulations to Alice, age 10, from Fitzherbert CofE Primary School for her ‘Christmas in the countryside’ design. Thank you to all the school children who took part. Merry Christmas everyone!

Another busy week....

Our incredible Posties have been working hard delivering letters and parcels being sent before Christmas.

I visited Hatton Delivery Office to say a thank you to those in the sorting office, and for the work they do to ensure that we get cards and gifts in time for Christmas Day.

In November, I asked @leicesterliz to introduce measures to prevent children from viewing nude images.

I am therefore pleased that the Government has committed to make it impossible for children to send nude images, and will ban “nudification tools”.

UK to ban deepfake AI 'nudification' apps
A new offence looks to build on existing rules outlawing sexually explicit deepfakes and intimate image abuse.

(1/4) Today, Minette Batters, the former President of the NFU, published her review into the profitability of farming.

The Review makes clear that we must do more to protect our hard-working farmers, with costs for farmers rising by more than 30% since 2020.

This week, I hosted the Campaign for National Parks’ New Perspectives Event in Parliament.

I am glad to be working with the @Campaign4Parks to ensure that young people help shape our National Parks and to ensure they become greener, wilder and more accessible than ever.

🚨BREAKING: The Government has just announced that it will provide an additional £160.6 million of funding for Derbyshire County Council.

Labour is ending Tory austerity and providing a 22% increase in funding - if Reform still can’t deliver, they can only blame themselves.
December 17, 2025 at 8:10 PM
Today, @linseyfarnsworthmp.bsky.social asked the Prime Minister about Reform's decision to close care homes, including The Leys in Ashbourne, leaving staff facing job reductions before Christmas.

I urge the Council to reconsider these cuts and to ensure residents continue to get the care they need.

Ashgate Hospice provides vital end-of-life support for loved ones in Derbyshire Dales.

Today, I urged the local ICB to provide the funding needed to keep these services going, and I welcome the Minister's offer to broker a discussion on funding between the ICB and Ashgate.

This morning I spoke to BBC Radio Derby about my decision, last week, to abstain on Resolution 50 to the Budget.

As a Labour MP, I believe in progressive taxation. But progressive taxation means taxing those who can afford to pay, not those already struggling to pay the bills.

Reform is promising to lift the moratorium on fracking.

This could lead to increased earthquakes, threaten our unique natural landscapes, and undermine our ability to tackle the climate emergency.

We must protect our rural environment and have a complete ban on fracking.

The removal of the second morning train between Matlock and Derby will make it harder for residents to commute to Derby and nearby towns for work, leisure and education.

Today, in Parliament, I urged East Midlands Railway to ensure that the second morning train continues to run.
December 9, 2025 at 6:14 PM
Today we are voting on the Railways Bill, which will create Great British Railways (GBR).

GBR will ensure that our trains are run in the interest of you, the passengers.

The headquarters of GBR will be based in Derby, bringing new jobs and investment to our region.

The Government is returning £2.3 billion to the BCSSS investment reserve.

As a result, 156 ex-mineworkers in Derbyshire Dales will see a weekly uplift of £100 to their pensions.

I called on the Government to deliver this and I'm proud to see this historic injustice ended.

🏫 Help address SEND pressures by enabling local authorities to build and run new schools
