I remember the way The Avengers was talked about ten years ago, and if you told somebody then that in 2025 it would be remembered as a relic of "when movies looked like movies", I think their soul would shrivel and die on the spot.

Okay, I don't generally pay much attention to the business side of things, so this might be a stupid question but - is it normal for the Guilds to openly oppose mergers like this?

Not that the worries over what Netflix acquiring Warner Bros. means for movie theaters aren't valid, but I think what it means for physical media merits some concern as well.
