Padres seem to win every offseason and every trade deadline but don't win in October and then bring in new managers every two years. Maybe they should try what the Rangers successfully tried three years ago and hire Bruce Bochy, who has experience turning teams into champions.

RIP to a baseball lifer/icon, Sandy Alomar Sr., father of Roberto and Sandy Jr. Beyond 15-year playing career, he served as long-time coach and in '80s was together with sons in Padres organization, always extremely helpful and kind to this scribe for which I was always grateful.

Buster Posey on Bruce Bochy managing in SF: "I talked to Boch a couple of days ago and told him where we are currently ... the door's always open here for some sort of role, but the way things are coming into the picture in my mind ... I don't see us going that route with Boch."
