The reason why it's so colossally dumb to give Congress the sole power to impeach and convict a President for criminal acts is that, unlike a jury, not a single person in Congress can truthfully claim to be "fair and impartial" when rendering a verdict.

If the U.S. Supreme Court decides that a President is immune from prosecution for anything he does while in office, then doesn’t that give Biden full immunity to do whatever he wants to Trump while Biden is still President — even illegal things — to ensure that Trump can’t get re-elected?
