Just out: a fascinating collection of autobiographical essays by psychiatrists about how their personal struggles have intersected with their professional identity.

Editor Glenn Roberts is one of the pioneers of narrative-based approaches to psychiatry and psychotherapy.

Do you work for the #NHS and have you had a belly full of it?

One A&E consultant did - literally. She's written a gripping book about it.

Here's my review in @bmj.com, just out. @heidiedmundson.bsky.social

In an instant, Labour MPs who believe in observing international law have been turned into targets for hatred, called "Maduro Apologists."

Seriously, how can anyone be taken in by this absolute bullshite?

The five countries exporting the most narcotics to the USA are Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Afghanistan and China.

The country with the largest oil reserves in the world is Venezuela.

It really isn't very complicated.

I had to tweak the prompt several times, but I finally got an AI bot (Deepseek) to stop congratulating me on how excellent all my questions were.

My latest challenge to AI bots. Unlike humans, they can't give a straight answer.

As a British Jew, as a child of Holocaust survivors and a baby refugee from Nazis this makes ashamed of the country that gave me refuge. We should be celebrating these people as heroes not condemning them to martyrs’ death.

I work for a part of the NHS that has changed its name so many times that most people refer to it by saying "Or whatever it's called these days."

We're about to be reorganised yet again.

My suggestion is that our next official name should be:

"Or whatever it's called these days"

Here's a podcast I've just done with Damian Tarnopolsky from the Narrative-Based Medicine Lab in Toronto. He's a very good interviewer and it's short and to the point (21mins). At the end I talk about AI-enhanced narrative medicine.

My parents were from Prague & Vienna.

In the 1960s all our holidays were in a farmhouse near Trefriw, North Wales. There was no electricity.

Today I'm back in Trefriw teaching doctors in Japan on Zoom.

One (from Nagasaki) has joined us from the Prague-Vienna bus.

Trump is no doubt too ignorant to realise it, but his alliance to govern Palestine is basically a reconstruction of the Ottoman Empire which did so, more or less peacefully, from 1517 to 1917 (until the British took it over and screwed everything up.)
