The resignations of Tim Davie and Deborah Turness must be an opportunity for the BBC to turn a new leaf, rebuild trust and resist those like Nigel Farage who want to destroy it

We must stand up for a strong, independent BBC, to stop Trump’s America becoming Farage's Britain.

I am not a lawyer, just a historian, but one fundamental problem with the political debate about the EU, especially in English publications is that the whole principle of the acquis communnitaire is not understood or taken seriously. The EU is a framework of rules, not an alliance.

A busy first day as your Mayor-elect: early morning interviews, transition announcements and meetings. More to say on all of it tomorrow.

But a highlight was lunch with my Congresswoman @aoc.bsky.social at Laliguras Bistro in Jackson Heights.

Ok, right. Missing from Calder’s account are the rest of the train crew, the existence of secure comms, route knowledge on the part of the driver, and Control, who orchestrated all this with the Police.

Amid all the fuss, remember that for much of the 1960s and 1970s, "the Spare" Andrew Windsor was just one unfortunate incident away from being the next king.

Hopefully, this appalling saga will lead to a proper national debate on our hereditary monarchy.

Long, long overdue.

Excellent results for Dutch Liberals as Progressive Parties defeat the Far Right Wilders.

PR helps defeats extremism, FPTP like in Britain encourages them.

One of the key barriers to electrification is the ratio of electricity to gas prices.

The tax rate on electricity used in industry is much higher in most European countries than the tax rate on fossil gas.
