Working paper, and needs corroboration, but it seems to reflect anecdotal impressions. So much of Christian theology among the right is also anti-government. And this is connected to a long history of theology and the anti-government, when the anti-gov movement was called the Christian Patriots.
From a paper I just read: the effect of worship attendance on one's willingness to pay higher tax so everyone can have better health care across nations. Note in most nations, the association is positive, though mostly non-significant. Just in the USA where the association is negative & significant.

Universities like Harvard are first and foremost financial institutions, hedge funds. There is no moral courage to be found among its leaders, saturated as they are with neoliberalism. We can see that not much money in the scheme of things needs to be risked for moral cowardice to win.

The Supreme Court has taken more rights away from LGBTQ+ people with this ruling. Our leaders are utter failures in the face of this rise of fascism, and what is out right and flagrant class warfare and in the imposition of right-wing identity politics that takes and does not free.
