A well defined problem is half solved. Or put another way, I found the leak. And the valve is ordered.

My son and I toured the Mississippi State University @msstate campus and College of Engineering on Friday and stayed to see the game against #12 Arizona State University. We had a great weekend together! And wow what a game! #hailstate

12 miles of gravel this morning. It was my first time on this route. I’m thankful that much of it was in the shade. I’ll definitely be back, especially on sunny days.

Got in a good 10-mile bike ride before the afternoon shower today.

Strava or AllTrails? Something else? What activity tracking app do you use? I’m primarily interested in keeping track of the miles walked, hike, and ridden (both road and mountain biking).

A few more pictures from this year’s Appalachian Trail hike. Some days were wet and rainy. Some were incredibly still and hot. Through it all, it was fun and we had a great time.

Over the 170 miles of this year’s AT trek, the terrain changed dramatically. The landscapes were incredibly diverse, yet uniquely beautiful.

On this year’s AT trek, we walked through places with rich and significant histories. Harper’s Ferry, the Mason-Dixon Line, Mt Vernon, Gathland, the original midway point of the AT, etc.

It’s so interesting to see places like this from a perspective that’s a little off the well-worn tourist paths.

23 miles into this year’s AT trek, we entered “the rollercoaster.” It’s a 14 mile stretch of trail with 7 tightly packed ascents and descents, each about 500 ft without switchbacks. 500 ft up, 500 ft down, etc. So passing the 1,000 mile point in the rollercoaster was even more rewarding.

I’m back from my longest Appalachian Trail so far - 170 miles in 10 days. More pictures soon. A few milestones, we:
* completed VA, WV, and MD.
* crossed into PA.
* passed the 1,000 mile mark
* passed the 1/2 point of 1,090.5 miles
* entered our 7th state of the 14 states of the trail
* had fun!

Home repair kind of weekend. The downstairs washer had stopped working. Fortunately, it was an easy fix. I replaced the door lock solenoid and it’s good again. Then, the upstairs A/C unit stopped working. The condensation drain had gotten clogged which triggered the cutoff switch. #DYI

My view tonight. The clouds glowing with orange and pink as the sun dipped below the trees. The kind of sky that makes you stop for a moment and just take it in.

I reread George Orwell’s Animal Farm recently. It seems far more poignant today than my last reading in high school. I’d encourage everyone to read it again. It’s a short, easy, thought-provoking, and timely read.

I kinda feel like Weagle Jr (our roomba) is being a little dramatic saying it’s stuck near a cliff.

Had a great time at The Texas Bankers Association’s Cyber Tech 2025 last week. It was a great event with lots of great content and connections. Thanks to everyone who helped to make it happen!

Making a Dark Chocolate Cherry Cobbler (aka dump cake) this Sunday afternoon. We made and ate a lot of these in Dutch Ovens while camping back in my Scouting days.

I just reached the 1,000 day streak on Duolingo. I’m far from conversant in a second language but I know a lot more than I did a 1,000 days ago.

What a special day! Saturday, Rachel earned her Bachelor’s Degree from MTSU! She’s always been smart, kind, and beautiful.

Her hard work has paid off, and we couldn’t be more proud of her achievements.

Lydia was invited to tour the Auburn Engineering Department on Friday. We stayed for the football game on Saturday and had a great time rolling Toomer’s Corner after the win! A lot has changed on campus since I was there, but the Auburn Family spirit hasn't. It's stronger than ever. #wareagle
