Highest expectations I’ve ever seen for PSU. Time for a change. Franklin will land on his feet. Who will be the next HC at PSU though?

There aren’t many billionaires I would support purchasing TikTok and Larry Ellison is no exception. I’m out if that happens.

Exclusive: White House in talks to have Oracle and U.S. investors take over TikTok
The aim is to place oversight control in the hands of American software company Oracle and other investors. Under federal law, TikTok must split apart from China, or face a nationwide ban.

At this time there doesn’t appear to be any leaks which is nice to hear. However how can we continue to let Norfolk Southern operate without recourse for their spotty safety record? They got lucky this time. You hear train derailment and you can assume Norfolk Southern.

Train derails into Lehigh River; no injuries, evacuations, leaks reported
As of Saturday morning, Northampton County officials said there there were "no evacuations, no injuries, and no leaks from any containers" related to the derailment.

I really liked True Detective: North Country. It’s the best season since the first. Really feels like a return to form.

Michigan arguably shouldn’t have even been invited to the CFP. And Alabama is in instead of the more deserving Florida State.

Overall I liked AEW’s Worlds End ppv. The final 3 matches were excellent. The reveal at the end made sense.

The worst film I’ve seen both this year and in a long time. I saw Skinamarink make someone’s year-end best horror list so I decided to check it out. Way too long. Maybe could’ve made for an interesting 20 minute short. Mostly shots of the floor or ceiling that’s super grainy.

Watched 2022’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Another direct sequel to a horror classic. It seems we have replaced horny teens with wokeness for killers to hunt down. Even with a runtime of only 80 minutes the film still feels too long. Sarah Yarkin is a highlight though.

Honorable mention for top concert this year:
I’m only mildly embarrassed to admit this but I saw Nickelback. I had fun & I was in the pit (bc my friend only does floor/pit).
They played “Hero” which technically isn’t a Nickelback song but akin to when The Eagles perform “The Boys of Summer”.

My top 3 concerts of 2023:
#1 Taylor Swift - Saw her in Cincinnati which I ended up loving too.

#2 Paramore - First show after going to the Eras Tour. Bought last minute tickets and wasn’t disappointed.

#3 Jimmy Eat World & Manchester Orchestra - 2 of my favorites + front row seats.

I liked American Fiction. If you’ve seen the trailer you get a good sense of this satire. What you don’t get is anything with the main character’s family which one can is argue may be the main plot of this story. Jeffrey Wright is great in this.

Overall I liked it. I’m a fan of Sam Esmail, especially of Mr. Robot. The premise is a really cool idea. Some great needle drops in this. I came away from this wanting to like it more than I actually did. Some interesting camera shots that I can imagine having critics.
