Very enjoyable walk to Guile Point yesterday to see the American Pipit. Support cast included this nosy seal, and some distant Pale-bellied Brent Geese.

I love how Scandinavian bird artists excel at expressing cold grey winter light. ❄️ Lars Fredholm has given this white wagtail such a wonderful dreamy expression. A minimalist beauty. And an early Christmas present - because who could resist? 😊

I've recently acquired this turtle doves painting. The unusual perspective and monochrome watercolour technique make me think the artist (initials JD?) knows his/her birds and art. Does anyone know who JD is? #birdart @stephbirdart.bsky.social @jonathanpomroy.bsky.social @btobirds.bsky.social

As a young teenager I cycled 12 miles and back in the freezing cold to see the wintering Lesser White-fronted Geese at the Oudeland van Strijen. Some 30 years I caught up with their grandkids at Flamborough. I was just as cold!
