Hello Bluesky! I am excited to be here. My family and I live in Oklahoma where I am a firmware engineer for a hard drive manufacturer. I have many hobbies (astrophotography, planetary science, sci-fi) but not enough time! I am politically liberal but attempt to understand other perspectives.
I love old farm windmills. #52frames_ruleofthirds #photography

For my 52Frames photo this week, I am repeating “Architecture.” Frank Lloyd Wright’s Price Tower in Bartlesville, OK is “the tree that escaped the crowded forest” because it was intended for New York with its forest of skyscrapers and escaped to the plains. #52Frames_redo #photography #architecture

51 photos down, 1 to go, for my 52Frames Photo Challenge! This week is “fill the frame,” and I submitted this closeup showing the texture of coffee beans! #52frames_filltheframe #photography

Finally, this week’s 52Frames photo challenge was “nature” with my favorite genre astrophotography as an extra challenge. Here is my submission, a 60x13s stacked photo of my favorite constellation, Orion. #photography #astrophotography #52frames_nature

For this week’s 52Frames photo challenge theme, “shoot from the hip”, I used my iPhone (literally by hip) to capture some candid moments on the streets of Oklahoma City. #52frames_shootfromthehip #photography

I love the theme for this week’s 52Frames photo challenge - Architecture! Here are a few of my favorite buildings in Oklahoma City. #52frames_architecture #photography

My son was a good sport (pun intended) helping me with this week’s 52Frames Photo Challenge, “Sports Photography”. To freeze the action and focus on the ball at its apex, burst mode, a fast shutter speed, and manual pre-focusing were essential. #52frames_sportsphotography #photography

Who doesn’t enjoy knocking over dominoes? It was fun photographing them for this week’s 52Frames Photo Challenge, “Black and White Minimalism.” #52frames_blackandwhiteminimalism #photography

Comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon west of Oklahoma City, approximately 01:00 UTC 11/10/2025. Nikon Z6, 200mm, f3.2, ISO 800, 10s stack of 40, cropped and processed with Siril. some defects in the image but I’m pleased. It was not visible to my eyes, but the camera picks it up well. #astrophotography #comet

For this week’s 52Frames photo challenge - “show us your toys”, I submitted this shot of my Nikon Z6 mirrorless camera mounted on my star tracker (which negates the rotation of the earth allowing for long exposures). Expensive but fun hobby! #photography #52frames_showusyourtoys

Tonight’s super moon from clear skies in Oklahoma City. #astrophotography

I captured this somewhat grainy view of Comet Lemmon last night west of Oklahoma City. The moonlight was bright, so I hope to try again later this week! #astrophotography #comet #nikon

This week’s photo challenge theme is “Your Worst Nightmare.” NASA science inspired my career in engineering. The proposed 50% cut to NASA science signals that the U.S. no longer wants to lead in science and technology - my worst nightmare. #nasa #52frames_yourworstnightmare

For this week’s photo challenge “centered composition”, I submitted this closeup of a garden spider by our trash dumpster which surprised me when I took out the trash today. So glad I didn’t bump into it! #52frames_centeredcomposition #nikon #z6 #photography

This week our photo challenge theme is “shadows”. I found a willing subject - this jack-o-lantern seems pleased with his long shadow. I also enjoyed the sun setting behind a park bench. #52frames_shadows #nikon #photography

The theme for this week’s 52Frames photo challenge is “time.” I could think of no better subject than the western “Gate of Time” at the Oklahoma City National Memorial. 9:03 marks the moment after the bombing on April 19, 1995 and the start of the long road of recovery. #52frames_time #photography

For this week’s 52Frames photo challenge “Textures”, I found some interesting tree bark in our neighborhood park and tried “focus stacking” for the first time. #52frames_texture #photography #nikon #z6

Radiohead’s OK Computer is one of my all-time favorites, exploring tech, isolation, and anxiety. For the 52Frames “Soundtrack” challenge, I tried to capture the tension between humanity and technology as a tribute to this alt-rock masterpiece. #52frames_soundtrack #photography

I enjoyed my brief time in the panhandle of Oklahoma for the Okie-Tex Star Party. Storms rolled in before midnight, but just before sunrise we got to experience Bortle 1 skies! #astrophotography #nikon #z6 #orion #andromeda

The theme for this week’s 52Frames photo challenge is “out of place”. I always thought oil wells on the grounds of the state capitol seemed out of place. This retired well serves as a reminder of how the industry shaped the economy and politics of the state. #52Frames_outofplace #photography
September 13, 2025 at 11:11 PM
This week’s 52 Frames challenge is “Shoot from Above”. I took these photos from my office in Oklahoma City. I hoped the stairwell shot would show the gap between stairs from my floor (16) to the ground floor, but the gap was too small to show that effect. #52Frames_shootfromabove #photography #nikon

For this week’s 52 Frames Photo Challenge “Reflections,” I tried to capture a reflection of the Galaxy sculpture on a reflective pillar by Leadership Square in downtown Oklahoma City. Instead, I found a distorted reflection of myself in the frame! #52Frames_reflections #photography #nikon #sculpture

Low-key photography is a new genre for me, and I made many mistakes as I experimented with dimly lit subjects for this week’s challenge. After a while I realized that I was underexposing my subject. I adjusted the lighting for this photo of a nativity set angel. #52frames_lowkey #photography #nikon

This week’s 52 Frames photo challenge theme is “abandoned”. A Google search for “abandoned near me” returned a number of interesting places. I chose this 1920s gas station on Route 66 near Arcadia, Oklahoma. My photo is not special, but what an interesting place! #52Frames_abandoned #photography #z6
