I just finished the poetry collection "Indigo" by Ellen Bass. She writes so well about death, sex, the complexities of human relationships. And, I super admire the way she writes about nature. Here's one I feel moved to share.

I think there’s one more round of pesto left in our little balcony herb garden before we call it done for the season.

Today I gathered up the remaining mint and used it to make simple syrup.

I plan to bring the rosemary indoors soon, find it a sunny spot, and hope it winters nicely.

CA's Lt Gov called KQED to weigh in on this. She said CA's best recourse against federal abuse is to show the country how well CA's policies work for people who live here. And, to fight back at the ballot box. That's not enough. We need options. Time is short.
