The invitation is clear: to move beyond meaning-making and into solidarity. The arts are not merely an afterthought in times of crisis. They are the connective tissue that can rekindle imagination, nurture belongings, and mobilise collective action.
Culture Declares Emergency calls arts and culture professionals to action
The cultural sector has a crucial role to play in both imagining and enacting sustainable futures. In this article Neus Crous Costa explores the interlinkages between culture and the environment, and ...

The Market has failed.
The State has failed.
Democracy has failed.

Let’s stop delegating:
Let’s return to community.
The state failed. Forms were processed.
Australians kept each other alive. Mutual aid, GoFundMe, community kitchens, informal care during floods, fires and housing stress.

Community is what keeps you safe. Build it.

Without fully agreeing with Max Ajl that degrowth has undervalued the periphery, this still serves as a necessary reality check now that degrowth is becoming mainstream in Northern academia. It is time to stop looking at ourselves in the GND mirror. brill.com/view/journal...

La revolución ecocrática no hace ruido, como una planta al crecer.

Brota de los cuidados, de lo común y de la tierra.

La sembraron mujeres.

Hace siglos que germina el antídoto frente al patriarcado y su sistema de reproducción: el capitalismo.

Happy solstice and a flourishing cycle of creativity and community. May we find our way back home to our ecosystems and relearn how to live well within the planet’s limits.

Climate inflation is the real story behind rising food prices. As ecosystems break down, costs rise. 2026 may be when prices begin to mirror planetary limits. Degrowth isn’t a choice, but the only just path away from ecofascism. www.fao.org/3/cd6008en/o...

It has become crystal clear over the past several years that coffee is approaching an inflection point. Business as usual is clearly not working, and the warning signs, blinking for decades, are beginning to strobe. #CoffeeSky

Degrowth, a radical economic and social theory, offers some hope:
How To Save Coffee: Lessons From the Degrowth Movement
Coffee is increasingly at risk from the climate crisis, and corporate-driven incremental change won’t save it. The theory of degrowth offers hope for a better world and a fairer coffee industry.

Reading interest-driven papers like these, I’m reminded of Fisher’s warning: “If you torture the data long enough, it will confess to anything”. Absolute decoupling under capitalism is impossible, not just because of thermodynamics, but because of capital’s drive to accumulate.
“Economic growth no longer linked to carbon emissions in most of the world.."

Oh really?

1) Emissions of greenhouse gases are still rising
2) The degree of decoupling is far from enough
3) for the United Kingdom, the reduction 2015-2023 was -18.41%, average
-2.51% per year. To reach net zero […]
