So, my third year of renfaire I decided I was going to build a Viking tent, no more sleeping in my armor wherever I came to rest in the field.
While describing it to a friend it occurred to me that a tent is just a cabin without walls so I sketched this out...

I used to be known for my Viking shields...
Step One: find good wood, make sure it is dry and straight, then glue it up with Titebond II wood glue. Keep in mind where the shield boss handle are going to go so you don't end up with seams in bad spots.
Don't use too much glue.
