People still do not grasp that the constitutional right to due process is afforded anyone inside the U.S. REGARDLESS of status. Even if you’re just visiting here.
WATCH: @abbyphillip.bsky.social patiently tries to get batya & scott jennings to understand their views about deporting people to foreign prisons without due process are un-American and anti-constitutional. (And they both know it) 🇺🇸

I’m leading over 175 Members of Congress to fight for the government’s free, easy-to-use tax filing service.

Trump and Musk want to kill Direct File.

Instead of caving to the billionaire tax prep industry, how about standing up for working Americans?
Mass. Sen. Warren, 175 Congressional Dems call on Trump not to shutter free tax-filing service
The lawmakers asked the Treasury Department and the IRS to respond to their demands to preserve Direct-File by May 5.

Job-killing Trump/DOGE debacle generates 3rd highest layoffs in US history in March.
March saw the third-highest number of layoffs in U.S. history, and 80% of them were caused by DOGE

This was before the tariffs

It's just...unbelievable

So we could lose $200B in tourism, $100B in immigrants paying taxes, $100B in weapons manufacturing, $500B in lost tax revenue from firing IRS employees… is it sinking in yet?
International tourism is worth $200 billion every year to the US economy.

Sorry, *was.

Today’s bonus issue of “One First” uses Tuesday’s executive order on elections to illustrate what a President can (and, as importantly, *can’t*) do through an executive order—and how major media organizations should do better in reporting on them:

Bonus 134: What Executive Orders Can (and Can't) Do
President Trump's ominous new executive order on election administration is constrained by the limits on what an executive order can directly accomplish, especially outside of the executive branch.

Trump is standing on a stage right now in the Dept of Justice calling out attorneys like Marc Elias by name accusing them of trying to turn the U.S. into a “corrupt, communist, 3rd world country,” and praising Judge Cannon for “modeling everything that a judge should be.”
Disgraceful & dangerous.

Tesla is in big trouble. Sales are plummeting and consumers are boycotting the brand as Elon Musk champions far-right politics.

But the CEO’s reputation isn’t the only problem. He’s also made a series of bad business decisions that are coming back to haunt the automaker.

It is legal to criticize the president. It is legal to criticize the president's actions. It is legal to criticize the president's advisors. It is legal and patriotic and the blood of a healthy society to hold those in power accountable, and even to mock them. Remember it.
Trump at the DOJ: "I believe that CNN and MSNDC, who literally write 97.6% bad about me, are political arms of the Democrat Party. And in my opinion, they are really corrupt and they are illegal. What they do is illegal."

Schumer’s decision is an unconscionable surrender that shows he does not have what it takes to meet this moment, and the charade he pulled yesterday makes it even worse. Time for new leadership in the Democratic Party.

In 2019, the National Park Service had a budget of $4 billion but generated over $30 billion in economic activity.

Firing federal workers and cutting public programs is going to end up costing us MORE, not less.
New data from the US Treasury reveals that federal spending was $603 billion in February, which is $36 billion HIGHER than February last year under Biden.

This suggests that DOGE has done nothing to cut spending.
Trump's first month showed $36 billion more in spending than last year
This February's monthly statement showed federal payments that were $36 billion higher than last February's.

CALLS ARE WORKING - it has bought us precious time, but we NEED to keep the pressure up.

Tomorrow is the cloture vote.

KEEP CALLING: (202) 224-3121 ☎️☎️☎️

Tell your Dem Senator to vote NO on Cloture and NO on the Republican spending bill.

Do NOT assume your Senator will be good on this. Trust me.
🚨 Everyone needs to call their Dem Senator right now. They are starting to cave.

Tell them:
1. Vote NO on Cloture
AND
2. Vote NO on the Republican spending bill.

Don’t let them pivot to reconciliation. GOP doesn’t need Dem votes on that and they know it.

TODAY is the showdown.
