New paper is out!🚨 We present a new method to sample random hypergraphs. For many datasets, we show that we can identify based on the hypergraph degrees whether our method will be (much) faster⚡ than standard Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods shorturl.at/tEzBF

One of the surveys being cut by DOGE is the BJS’s Survey of Inmates in Jails.

Jails are simultaneously HUGELY important and preposterously UNDER-STUDIED.

And this will just make it so so SO much harder to study them.

Arguably, jails are more consequential than prisons:
3. “In your entire life, have you had at least 12 drinks of any kind of alcohol, not counting small tastes or sips?” is a question on the Survey of Inmates in Local Jails, which the Census Bureau conducts for the Bureau of Justice Statistics to produce data on substance use among incarcerated people
