Everyday authoritarianism is mostly boring and tolerable, but it is always maddening and stupid
Quotations putting in a lot of work—but I’m so excited to see this finally out! The best kind of paper: intuitive yet creative; methodologically sensitive yet very readable.
And the lesson? If you give people rights, they take steps to “belong” more to the state—a win win!
