Gradual exposure to food allergens as a treatment can do amazing things. Two years ago our daughter went to hospital in anaphylaxis having milk in cooked food at nursery, a year of the ‘milk ladder’ at home via KCLH and she now is dairy allergy free

One of these exceptions accords with principle and the other doesn't. One does not need to compensate a dead person for loss of earnings (and the 1976 Act deals with dependents). But if the point of exemplary damages is punitive why on earth aren't we punishing tortfeasors who cause death?
