I made my first visit to the 33 Oldham Street venue last night thus reaching two singular milestones, my 1500th gig and my 700th different venue, the quest continue!

The news of Sugar’s reunion has brightened my Thursday morning. I have fond memories of seeing them three times on their opening tour in late 92. Also recall the surreal scenario of them receiving Radio 1 airplay and Simon Bates announcing the new Sugar single!

40 years ago today (26/09/85) I attended my first Manchester gig, George Duke and Stanley Clarke at the Apollo.

I am still rolling on, 725 Manchester gigs later!

A remarkable 40 years ago today (06/09/85) I saw Jesus and Mary Chain for the first time at Preston Clouds. They hit the stage at 1.10am for their 20 minute show and were supported by the Pastels

As it is an astounding 40 years since the release of the two seminal Husker Du albums “New Day Rising” and “Flip Your Wig”, I thought it would be a worthy time to hear their cover version of “Eight Miles High” which oozes of their unmistakable intensity!

20 years ago today (18/08/05) I saw Mogwai at Glasgow ABC after we had a made a fruitless trip a couple of months before when the original gig was cancelled at the last minute!
