Loudly declaring you are steering into defense and run prevention and then trading Wilyer over Jarren would be insane behavior, right?
Part of steering into run prevention would include trading Duran so that Roman can play left every day, right?

Expanding: if this doesn't open up a trade for a second or third baseman using SP depth and maybe an OFer than this was just spending to spend
Today put the offseason back on track but I fear my crashing out will not subside until it is a near impossibility that Rafaela plays an inning at second base this year

There's one GM in baseball that would announce a player (Marte) is not getting traded and then trade him like 3 weeks later and he's unfortunately employed by the Red Sox

You can say a lot of things about Craig Breslow, but "has a plan" isn't exactly one of them. Why did Sandoval get paid 20m to be SP7?

Problem is I really don't know what middle infielder whose currently available is worth Tolle Early or Duran. If they'd signed Ranger before Marte was pulled off the market, you'd think Duran+ one of the pitchers would get it done but alas.
Functionally we're an AL Central team right now. Still need to add a bat, but this must make trading Early or Tolle more palatable

Wow! Can't say I love the pivot to run prevention but this opens up a couple more Avenues in the trade market. Craig still has work to do but this was a good non-panic move to calm everyone down a little

I sent this thinking that Bregman was going to be retained but we'd miss on the true number 2 and middle of the order bat we were promised. Oh how naive of me.

Can't blame Bregman even a little bit if the NTC was a needle-mover. Why wouldn't he be afraid of the Sox shipping him to Timbuktu when he shows any signs of regression?
