This week’s #sundayfishsketch prompt was spooky fish or fish w/spooky names. I started down a toadfish rabbit hole b/c they always look menacing. Discovered a new group to me. The plunderfish with their odd little chin barbels. Denizens of the cold waters of the southern oceans around Antarctica.

Forgot to cross post, so it’s a dah behind. Better late than never

Haven’t kept up with #sciartseptember very well. Here’s a plains minnow for the #vanishing prompt from earlier in the week. Once, one of the most common minnows in the sandy drainages of the Kansas and Arkansas rivers, flow regime changes greatly reduced their numbers #sundayfishsketch

A pallid sturgeon for this week’s #sundayfishsketch. Found in the Missouri and Mississippi rivers, pallid sturgeons show a preference for swift current and turbid waters. Listed as an endangered species both federally and in Kansas.
