Spotted this #ladybug on today’s #photostroll and had to look up what was going on. Turns out it’s fresh out of its pupa - wings still soft, and the shell hasn’t hardened or deepened in color yet. This post-emergence phase is called the teneral stage and only lasts a few hours.

Spotted this #ladybug on today’s #photostroll and had to look up what was going on. Turns out it’s fresh out of its pupa - wings still soft, and the shell hasn’t hardened or deepened in color yet. This post-emergence phase is called the teneral stage and only lasts a few hours.
