Letterboxd Friday! Hit 50 logged for 2026, which means I have a lot of wiggle room on my overall goal of 150.

Bar none, the best source for 1930s and 1940s cinema this side of archive.org is HBO Max. I worry what will happen when Netflix consumes it.

Letterboxd Friday! This was about to be slightly different, but my Internet died 15 minutes from the finish of Samurai III.

Letterboxd Friday! So far (and this wasn’t a goal), I’ve been logging at least one film a day.

Having watched all of the Philo Vance movies available to me, I can now give my definitive ranking of Vance actors:
1. William Powell
2. Basil Rathbone
3. James Stephenson
4. Warren William
5. Edmund Lowe
6. Paul Lukas

I don't care enough to track down the PRC films.

My statistical analysis of my film viewing after seven days of 2026 reveals that my star of the year will definitely be H.B. Warner.

I wrote up a little end-of-year film summary on Letterboxd (by logging Paint Drying, as is tradition). boxd.it/clwIXZ
A review of Paint Drying (2016)
As I think I've probably watched my last film for 2025, I thought I'd take a second to do a little year in review. I started out the year with five goals -- 220 films logged, a little review for each ...

Spare me from another goddamn “Mina is Dracula’s reincarnated lost love” adaptation. Mina loves her husband. That’s the love story.

The choices in this film (Blood Orange) are baffling. Tom Conway plays a private detective Tom Conway, but for some reason he's doing a flat and nasal American accent when the whole appeal of Tom Conway is that British purr.

Haven’t done a Letterboxd Friday in a while because my movie viewing has been way down. I was on vacation this week and watched a bunch, though.

I hit an unexpected milestone in my Letterboxd stats. It's been a year since I went a week without logging some kind of film. I only really thought of my film viewing as ramping up in December of 2024, but I guess I was being consistent prior to that.
