Lots going on. Two deaths in just a few days. Dad's girlfriend on June 5th and my beloved Aunt on June 11th. Taking care of all the paperwork is tiring but will manage it.

My Dad and his girlfriend have moved in with me. Much more challenging than I expected. Working on a Florida Medicaid application for them both to help with Medicare premiums. Praying cuts won't go into effect.

Been thinking back on college days. My favorite class was on interpretation of govt policy. I have a Bachelor's in Social Work. I lean on that knowledge when looking over SSA disability policy, Florida DCF policy almost every day. Grateful USF School of Social Work graduate, class of 1990.

Feeling hopeful. Oldsmar Florida has a new mayor, my friend Katie Gannon. A woman of integrity, honesty and compassion. She was at the forefront leading the hurricane cleanup efforts this past season. Literally not afraid to get sweaty, dirty to get the job done. Looking forward to her term.

My silly funny cat Tyler has crossed the rainbow bridge. I will miss him. House is too quiet without him. But life is full of change. My Dad is coming back to FL from NC to live with me, so onward to new adventures. Tyler will always have a place in my heart.

I listened to the White House meeting with Zelensky and oh my God, Trump and Vance sounded like every Hollywood parody of mob bosses. Absolutely appalling.

Spending my work day doing charity adjustments for people that can't afford their medical bills. Some of these applications are just heart breaking. We need universal healthcare.

Call from a friend, crying and upset, said she got a call from what she thought was local police, saying they had a warrant for her arrest. She hung up. My friend has a Hispanic last name. I told her that it sounded like a scam to intimidate people. She's going to the local police. What the hell! 🤬

Oldsmar library founded the Woman's club. I am proud to be the current treasurer for our club. Women often are the driving force of education.

Been thinking about healthcare in the USA. Do other countries have things like Shriners hospital or St Jude's hospital that are funded by donations? My work is helping people who can't pay. Sometimes it's advocating to get insurance to pay. Wondering if we'll ever get universal healthcare. Thoughts?

I have been working in hospital casework for 33 years now. I have never met "the welfare cheat" and am so tired of hearing about it. Who I have met are desperate people scared and sick, not knowing what to do. I've helped some over the years but always wished I could do more.
