Though temperatures are running quite mild Friday morning (still 65 in Lincoln as I'm writing this), clouds are moving out with a northerly breeze developing for the day. Should be a pretty great Friday.

Above average temperatures for October will continue through the weekend.

Tomorrow marks 3 weeks 'til Halloween.
Yes, it's on a Friday this year!
The other two are somewhat lurking.

Fall temperatures are slipping away again, now and into the weekend.

Riding the roller coaster that peaks with a windy, very warm 85° day on Sunday before fall returns early next week with some rain.

Mix of sun and clouds this Thursday, with a decent southerly breeze up to 25-30 mph during the afternoon. Warmer, too, with temperatures ending up closer to 80°.

Not nearly as chilly as yesterday in the morning... in fact, most in eastern Nebraska are waking up to temperatures 15-20° warmer, thanks to some overnight clouds!

Green lights up ahead for perfect car cruisin' weather.

Even a wind chill, too 🧥

Another cool start in the 40s will end up with comfortable fall afternoon temperatures around 70°. More wind, cloud cover for central and western Nebraska this Wednesday (October 8, 2025).

Our coldest fall morning was a month ago, back on September 6 when temperatures in Lincoln fell to 43°.

Tomorrow morning's forecast looks just a bit colder, making it what could be the coldest morning since May 4 if we do drop to 42°. Possible patchy fog, too.

This month's full moon in October is known as the "Harvest Moon" or the "Hunter's Moon."

Thanks to our tower camera in Lincoln for this view early Tuesday🌕 (October 7, 2025).

We're slow to warm up this week, meaning these cooler fall temperatures will last a little longer.

Afternoon highs across Nebraska in the 60s will be pleasant for fall lovers today.
October 7, 2025 at 11:20 AM
Temperatures have dropped to some chilly 30s in areas of northern Nebraska overnight.

A Frost Advisory is in place for northwest Nebraska until 9AM MDT Tuesday morning (October 7, 2025).
October 7, 2025 at 10:40 AM
This year was the fifth warmest start to October ever for Lincoln (through the first 5 days), averaging 87° for a high.

And then we got CHILLY fast. Temperatures haven't been warmer than 55° over the past 24 hours.

Tonight is the first of FOUR consecutive supermoons to end 2025 and start 2026 (October, November, December and January). Rare and cool!

A supermoon happens when the full moon is very close to Earth. The moon looks bigger and ~30% brighter than normal as it's near the horizon.
October 6, 2025 at 4:14 PM
Heads up to a couple cooler overnights into Tuesday and Wednesday mornings (October 7 and 8, 2025).

The latter may cause patchy frost to form in some areas attempting to cool closer to 40° early Wednesday (winds less than 8 mph, maybe enough moisture in the air?).

Welcome weather change this week!! 🍂
Now we're talking.
October 6, 2025 at 2:00 PM
Really great rainfall reports across southeast Nebraska. Around Lincoln, numerous reports up around 1.5"+ so far this morning.

East and south of Lincoln some reports well over 2", if not approaching 3" and 4" in southern Gage County.

8AM Monday: More rain is about to pick up here in Lincoln, with an occasional rumble of thunder possible. Soggy mid-morning hours before rain becomes more intermittent this afternoon.

Rain gear not a bad idea for the rain protection but also another layer with the cooler temps!

Saturday plans or gearing up for game day as a fan: it will be quite windy. Southerly wind gusts up around 35-45 mph are likely for much of Saturday afternoon and evening.

And a hot-looking Memorial forecast for #Huskers.
October 3, 2025 at 3:34 PM
There is a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk for severe weather in western Nebraska by evening Saturday (October 4, 2025).

Storms interacting with a cold front by then may threaten some hail and damaging wind as the main concerns.

Friday's forecast is HOT. So glad this October heat comes without the humidity, unlike these temperatures that are more typical in late July.
