Been thinking about how ICE ops are going to change people in Minnesota or the state as a whole. The Times reports a spike in gun permit applications. Folks who never imagined owning a gun are learning to shoot them & possibly own one for safety from the federal gov. www.nytimes.com/video/us/100...
Video: Why ICE Raids in Minneapolis Are Driving Up Demand for Guns

We'll keep hearing these stories. There is a history of eating disorders triggered by weight loss meds. GLP-1s are easy to get online. Will screenings tighten? Req more doc monitoring? Accountably isn't straight forward when meds cause other life threatening diseases. 👀

Doctors, patients and researchers are at the very beginning of understanding how the new class of obesity drugs interact with eating disorders.

Listening to a press conference on how the ICE surge in MN is effecting children. Kids are missing school, they're afraid, some have been detained, students worry about friends, families have been separated. I fear we've lost the youth mental health gains that have been in repair since the pandemic.

This is an eyeopener. I didn't realize causes weren't in the DSM re psychiatric diagnosis. Causes are complicated — past trauma, genetics, environment — BUT I bet mental health conditions would be easier to treat if the cause was part of the treatment plan.
www.npr.org/2026/01/28/n...
It's the foundation of psychiatric diagnosis. And it's about to get a makeover
The current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual is known as the DSM-5. What will the next version be called? That's one of several open questions as the "Bible of psychiatry" goes online.
