In the near term, I'm more worried about how the Trump regime will use war as precedent to undermine our institutions further than what Iran can inflict in a war.

There is no reason to claim anything definitively yet. But conflict is the most common means of expanding and cementing power

President Trump's inaugural address was a misleading assessment of the U.S. It has a growing economy, falling inflation, slowing illegal immigration, a record-breaking stock market, the lowest levels of violent crime in years and a military that has limited engagement in conflicts around the world.
Trump’s inaugural address centers on pledge to lift a country in ‘decline’
In his second Inaugural Address, the president reprised dark themes from his first and laid out an expansive policy agenda.

The Post's previous mission was "Democracy dies in darkness".

Now, its changing the mission statement (due to Bezos political leanings?) is telling of the oligarch's values: the degradation of truth, democracy, and journalism to win favor with Trump

When you think about what the goal of tech and the apps we consume are, I don't think any of us want the purpose is to consume your life

I'm genuinely scared that design patterns that perpetuate misinformation and brain rot seem to be increasing, rather than building ethical and helpful apps

I'm trying to shift my life away from unethical big tech. It can be hard to sever myself from them completely, but if I am starting by replacing YouTube with nebula, social media with bluesky, and search engines with Ecosia, I'm hoping to be one in a market force for positive change in tech

I'm so impressed with this app. Truly an example of a product built for the public good! Thinking about my own products, there is a lot of benefit to the open nature and for the public benefit structure of Blue Sky.
