My friend who works with dogs observed how dogs are the “defect wolves” evolutionarily: Wolves thrive in packs where they’re required to in tune & deeply embedded with their packmates, while still having autonomy. However, modern dogs are wolves that can’t do this and really need follow one leader

Taking care of pets is such a science. Every animal is so different, and as their guardian we really have to learn their personalities and biologies and be in tune with them for them to not just survive but thrive
