Victoria was one of the most joyful people I have ever met. She brought so much enthusiasm to science and life❤️
The @umdleadlab.bsky.social and the world lost a bright star this week. Victoria was such a kind, dedicated, and passionate person. She was one of my first students, helping me set up my lab from scratch, and I am honored to have worked with her. There aren't words for how much we will miss her. ❤️

In the past month 4 trainees in my lab lost: NIH diversity supplement, MARC, & STEP-Up funding. NSF SBE meeting (incl. ECRs) indefinitely postponed. Pipeline cuts disproportionately affect underrepresented scholars. Individual lives & our collective future impacted. #ScienceMatters

To be perfectly frank, the USA is not and has not been a "world leader" across many things *except* biomedical research. This could be no more, thanks to what is happening to the NIH and many others. This is a travesty for not only science, but the beneficiaries of that science: the people.
