Time for a re-introduction?

👋 Hi, my name is Jen. I was an embryologist in a former life (worms, frogs) then worked in a microscope core facility. I switched to industry @leicamicrosystems.bsky.social in 2017, 1st as a Field Application Specialist & then marketing.
I haven’t bought running tights in nearly a decade, so imagine my sticker shock while shopping today. Average retail price was ~$95. For tights. 🤯

After decades of using excel, I finally learned today that there’s such a thing as a cell reference 🤦🏻‍♀️🤯

After bookmarking a ton of recipes on IG, I finally made one tonight. Beef noodle soup in the instant pot! It was relatively easy and delicious, would definitely recommend www.instagram.com/reel/C6ptkSd...

After years of having my music library in limbo, when iTunes & my old Mac both decided to retire, I finally transferred my library to my new Mac. Hooray!

…only to find that a subscription to Apple Music is required to sync the library over iCloud to my iPhone 😒

Ridiculously excited about the new Sprouts that recently opened less than 4 miles away. We have several Lucky & Safeway stores that are closer, but the quality of the produce and meats is SAD.

(Yes, I know there are farmers markets but that requires advanced planning)

So far, the most useful application of SafeGPT (our company’s version of ChatGPT) is to make the occasional borderline angry/aggro emails sound more professional & pleasant 😆

Taiwan has amazing food, but its coffee could use some help. It’s often watered-down machine espresso-based drinks or super expensive (either pour over or something that I think is vacuum based)
I’m back in the US & just brewed a pot of freshly ground coffee & it’s heavenly ☕️🥰

So, NPR let me do an audio postcard on my very particular trash routine in Taiwan that turned into more of a self-reflective essay on my neuroses...

We had a belated Thanksgiving celebration yesterday (Saturday) with Peking duck & dim sum instead of turkey and stuffing. 10/10 ✨

In Taiwan, so no turkey for me this thanksgiving! I had beef noodle soup for lunch and mushroom pasta for dinner 😋
Noodles all day, every day!

Din Tai Fung is known for their xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) but my personal favorite is the chili oil wontons. The sauce is 🔥 and goes great with any of the fried rice dishes. Don’t sleep on the cucumbers and hot & sour soup

12 Days of Taipei Thanksgiving, Day 1: we returned to a local favorite from our last trip, a small mom & pop shop. Everything was delicious & all dishes were USD $2 or less!

I 100% agree - with the exception of a showing that’s clearly marked “sing along”
I genuinely find it shocking that anybody would sing out loud at a movie musical. It’s one of the reasons why even if I were more of WICKED person than I am, I wouldn’t see it in theaters. It sounds exactly as appealing as having someone who knew all the lines in a movie yelling them out loud.
I don’t know what my specific pathology is, but I am very anti-phones in movie theaters but when I heard about people singing along to Wicked, I was, like, “This is fine.”
