tv researcher (for work, pleasure, and academia); collector (typewriters and toys, mostly); immigrant; tattooed mother and artist’s wife; fond of swearing. Used to be in my 30s, but that was some time ago now.

A bit about my current work/research:
- UK broadcast history, esp. use of US progs in schedules since 1989(ish)
- video ACR tools, esp. for generating quant data sets
- tv audience measurement and (potential) destabilisation of currencies
- x-media outcomes measures (w/ single source panels)
Small travel highlight from yesterday, handing the Swiss border agent my US passport, answering I am in Basel until Monday, she asks if I live in the UK, and expresses relief when I say yes. ‘Oh, good, otherwise that is a very long journey for only three days in Basel!’

Having a day where nothing is going quite right.
February 3, 2025 at 12:16 PM
I have to go into the office tomorrow for the first time since I delivered cookies there on 20 December. It’ll be good once I’m there, but the usual leaving the house dread is strong tonight.
January 30, 2025 at 7:21 PM
On a more positive note, I am eager to write, which is a nice change after some difficult months.
January 28, 2025 at 12:54 PM
Update: I still hurt from yesterday’s fall, but in very specific areas of my body.
January 28, 2025 at 12:53 PM
After work I managed to fall not quite down the stairs, but at the bottom of the stairs. My elbow still really fucking hurts and I keep forgetting until it brushes against anything. Gonna be a fun night.

Sunday. Did some reading then some household work, then put together a 90-page colouring book, as you do.
January 19, 2025 at 4:08 PM
Friday. On the cusp of major changes, but feeling positive.
January 17, 2025 at 11:13 AM
Adjusting to changes and planning ahead. So much to write and so little time. But for now, a lunch break.
January 16, 2025 at 1:47 PM
Tuesday. Back at work and straight into meetings. Knees still aching from Rome but ankle in surprisingly good form.
January 14, 2025 at 1:04 PM
Leaving for the airport in 30 minutes. Two of us are ready to go, and the other is at the post office.
January 10, 2025 at 8:13 AM
Tuesday. Meeting, prep of some promotional slides, therapy, yoga. As a bonus, my ethics application was approved today, so I’m free to conduct interviews if I want to.
January 7, 2025 at 4:56 PM
Monday. Sweet, beautiful routine. How I’ve missed this… temporary but I’ll take what I can get.
January 6, 2025 at 11:04 AM
Well, the kitchen is cleaned and put back to non-baking setup, the coffee maker is fully serviced and descaled, with multiple loads of laundry on the go.
January 5, 2025 at 3:20 PM
Sunday. An attempt to be back to normal, so started with gym and now a day of household chores. It’s going to be a challenging month in a lot of ways.
January 5, 2025 at 11:47 AM
Wednesday. A new year, but a normal day. Not working, not writing. Next stop, being tech support.
January 1, 2025 at 11:13 AM
Monday. Working, with an extended lunch break. Days have no meaning (still) but creeping towards normality with each passing night.
December 30, 2024 at 8:18 AM
Sunday. Life churns around me and I’m ready for normality to return. Normal routine, normal food, normal activity.

Having an app for Overnights also massively helps with nerd stuff on days off.
December 26, 2024 at 7:53 PM
Nerding doesn’t stop for Bank Holidays.
December 26, 2024 at 7:52 PM
Looking forward to seeing how Squid Game crushes the As Viewed for today.
December 26, 2024 at 7:51 PM
Chatting Christmas overnights with a friend who has left the industry. As you do…

But a 79.4 share in 16-34s as broadcast. Oof that’s good. (Also noting the drop of Chuck‘s speech when you flip between Inds 4+ and 16-34…)
December 26, 2024 at 7:50 PM
Back to work tomorrow. The kid has gone upstairs so we’re watching bonus afternoon Squid Game.
December 26, 2024 at 2:43 PM
I think there will be about 25 varieties again this year, plus the addition of a savoury box.

There’s a Google Form for people to fill out, then I pack up tasting trays full of cookies and the kid and I do a full day on the road delivering them.

I’ve started this year’s Christmas baking. It’s the primary tradition I’ve carried on from childhood. It gets bigger each year and (thankfully) I have a lot of friends, family, colleagues, neighbours, etc. who take boxes of them from me.
