I do think the article makes some good points, but it’s framing things in quite a narrow way. Charts have always been influenced by the people with power in the industry.
In the past, it was the big labels deciding who got the exposure, which is why certain acts charted and others didn’t. +

Many! My first was that hobi proposed to me, but as I was about to say 'yes' someone said 'CUUTT' turns out we were just filming for the BTS World app and Hobi had infact not proposed. 😅 (I was playing the app at the time, *shakes fist at sky)

I heard Butter on a YouTube advert for a phone (I think) and then watched the MV straight after, followed by hours of content, that was 4 years ago almost to the day.
