Jefferson County's finance team will present the 2026 budget for approval at the Board of County Commissioners' Hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 9 a.m. Community members are invited to attend to learn more about the county budget. The hearing will take place at 100 Jefferson County Parkway in Golden.

Following another pause in SNAP benefits, Jefferson County issued a Diaster Declaration yesterday.

SNAP funds will be on hold in November due to the federal government shutdown. This hold on SNAP benefits will have a profound impact on many Jefferson County residents.

While SNAP benefits will be on hold starting Nov. 1, those in need of food assistance are still encouraged to apply for aid.

Future applicants should be aware of upcoming changes to SNAP, however.

SNAP Benefits on Hold 🍎🥪

Due to the government shutdown, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has not released the funds that states use to pay SNAP benefits. This means Colorado cannot issue approximately $120 million for November SNAP benefits until funding is restored.

This morning county staff and leadership were made aware of a swastika displayed on Jeffco Open Space property, visible from I-70. Our Open Space rangers and Sheriff’s Office deputies acted swiftly to remove it. The scene is now under investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Due to several left-turn accidents at the intersection of Bowles Ave and Grant Ranch Blvd, including one fatal accident, Jefferson County changed the traffic light to a green protected left turn arrow rather than a flashing yellow arrow.

Jefferson County Commissioners Andy Kerr and Rachel Zenzinger joined Jefferson County staff for a special ribbon cutting event with staff and students at Welchester Elementary. The students were excited to learn safety tips and how the new raised crosswalk helps with a safer walk or ride to school.
