Imagine you were the richest man in the world. You could have anything you wanted, go anywhere you wished, do whatever took you fancy. How would you spend your weekend? Depriving the poorest people in the world of food and healthcare and boasting about it?

1/ Trump’s presidency should be a wake-up call for Canadians.

His chaotic leadership is just one symptom of a deeper problem—an outdated winner-take-all electoral system.

Let’s not assume we’re immune. 🧵

There is good news.

Like the fact that AppleTV+ 👍 is producing yet another ambitious sci-fi show, and that it is an adaptation of the beloved series The Murderbot Diaries👍.

Filming started a year ago, so it could be released by 2026.

@thebrainofchris.bsky.social tells us about it here:
Will the Apple TV+ Adaptation Get The Murderbot Diaries Right?
Do Martha Wells’ books suit a prestige TV series starring Alexander Skarsgård as the genderless, autistic-coded Murderbot?

He blinked.
2 days ago Donald demanded our nationhood as the price of peace.
Then we hit with $125bil in counter tariffs and pulled American products off the shelf.
So now he settles for a fentanyl czar.
Canada shows the world how to stand up.
But this is ain't over.
Don't drop your guard.

Worth a read.
Looks like the MAGA have made the same mistake as Brexit voters in the UK and voted to put tariffs on themsleves in the foolish assumption that it makes them look strong. Have a read of this insightful analysis of why Trump's attempt to bully America's neighbours will backfire badly

This… is a really good idea. 🇨🇦🔬
🧪
If I were Canadian PM I would immediately:

1. Create a new $15B science fund

2. Offer any credentialed US scientist funding for lab startup and replacement of NIH grants if they move to Canada

3. Immediate permanent residency

4. Citizenship after 2 years

Overnight a science superpower

Today we launched the Pledge for Canada.
We have voices from across the political, cultural, labour, Indigenous spectrum.
We are building a movement to maintain pressure on our leaders not to sell out our nation or our values.
Please sign and join the movement.

I miss Carl Sagan (1934-1996).

From Cosmos to Contact, in books and on screen, his intellectual work has had a profound impact on me.

In these days of embraced anti-intellectualism, his books should be revisited.

10 years ago WL ran a Pop-Up Gallery for a month on College Street to mark our 15th. It was a Time. Now we’re celebrating our 25th. Time is an illusion (music time doubly so).
#TBT to the WL Pop-Up Gallery!

10 years ago we took over Huntclub Studios with original art installations, an art gumball machine, and a retrospective poster and photo show.

#OnThisDay in 2015 Ravetapes threw an interactive dance party at the Gallery, with Hamilton experimental duo Allegories.
