AZRAEL! Finished. 9x12 con-style. This would be somewhere between a head-sketch and a torso. If anyone, noticed compared to yesterday, I had a highlight around the backside of the figure; but filled that all in black, as I realized the figure would hold fine without that highlight.

Work in progress: AZRAEL! This is always the interesting stage, with the color done, but the black is not filled in yet. The blacks really add the drama, and I’m never sure if the piece works until I’ve got all the black in. We’ll see…

GAMBIT! 9x12. I liked how the Gambit morning sketch turned out, so I wanted to do something larger, and with a glowing card. This would be con-style head sketch.

From the files: SPIDERWOMAN! Similar pose I’ve used for Spider-Man before; I really like the angle. Here I added the spotlight. Also let all her white areas “bleed” together with no outline for an interesting effect.

Morning sketch: BATMAN! One more spotlight theme. Probably the last for a bit. I usually do 4 of a specific theme since thats how many fit on a page in the portfolio. Unless someone commissions their favorite character.

Morning sketch: GAMBIT! Besides keeping it monochromatic, I let each color dry before the next, giving it distinct bands like cell-shading.
