85 years ago today my father (aged just 6) was evacuated from #Guernsey - the experience shaped him for the rest of his life, as it did many others.

I'm very grateful to the Guernsey Press for publishing my tribute to him today..

Very special moment - mum & I voting together today in #Guernsey elections...thinking too of Dad today and thanking him enabling us to be rooted in this 'gem of the sea', which is our home...

TONIGHT - it's my time in the hot seat at the BBC Guernsey hustings with John Fernandez at Les Cotils. Great line up. Doors open 1730 for a 1800 start

Great day at the Guille-Alles with Charles Parkinson talking about a Fair Guernsey - and a Fair Tax structure. Steady stream of people coming to engage right up to 5pm. Thanks to all my friends & family who came too 😊

Here's the first of my major promo signs that are going up around the island...

I'm very grateful to some friends who have let me use their railings near a major set of traffic lights (that are very slow to change!)

Off to learn about the amazing work of the #GSPCA.

I'd be totally lost without my Leo - animals are definitely an integral part of our family & need the right protections to ensure they are safe from harm....

I'm pleased to be helping organise these 3 #hustings for a group of independent candidates, of whom I'm one. We've asked Jenny Kendall-Tobias, Sir Richard Collas & Andrew Ozanne to chair them.

Any questions or thoughts about what a Fairer #Guernsey should look like, especially what a #FairTax structure means?

Please drop in to the Guille-Alles library (Dorey Room) next Saturday to have a chat with @dep_parkinson & myself between 1030 - 1630 - we'd love to meet you...

This is madness - #Guernsey vs UK news today...all part of why islanders are finding it so hard to make ends meet..

Our first hustings got off to an excellent start, with some hard truths from audience

'Moderator, Andrew Ozanne asked for a show of hands from the audience if people felt that this was “the worst States ever”. A majority of people present raised their hands'

At least two candidates appeared before two different audiences as the hustings got underway ahead of Guernsey’s general election. Current deputies Tina Bury and Aidan Matthews both answered questions...

I believe politics should be values driven. Thats why I've grouped the areas I'm keen to focus on under my three priorities, which form the basis of a #FairGuernsey.

Central to all is a #FairTax structure, which I shall explain separately.

This morning I registered first thing as a candidate in the #Guernsey #Elections2025

Good to meet various people in the queue, including Kerensa Gardener and several other excellent women. Hoping it'll mean we have a more balanced & representative Chamber.

So pleased I've found these - I loved being part of these Gang Shows (I helped form the pit orchestra)...

Has anyone else ever taken part - it's a great feeling!

Who'd have known the timing would be so apt?

In Aug 2024 I was asked to write a series of short reflections for Anglican Link for their Easter 2025 issues, where they wanted to focus on #LGBT matters and the Church.

I felt led to write about my meeting with Pope Francis and the fruit it had borne

I love the fact that the late #PopeFrancis asked to be buried in Santa Maria Maggiore - just across the road from the #Argentinian Embassy, the nearest place he had to home! Not sure many have picked up on that yet...!

It's also a beautiful, accessible and yet simple Church, amongst 'the people'

Baroness @shamichakrabar1 talks about her belief in #humanrights

- Democracy needs basic protected rights to function & survive

- It's also important for the fundamental human dignity of all

- Law & politics need to mutually respect each other, but there need to be redlines!

I am fortunate to have some special memories of #PopeFrancis, not least the very special act of him signing a T-shirt (which he rarely did) which I’d worn to St John Henry Newman’s beatification (who had built our church), and which I then asked #JustinWelby to sign…

He was the kindest of pastors
April 25, 2025 at 6:56 AM
#PopeFrancis was an extraordinary man, who was determined to keep at the heart of his ministry his calling first & foremost to be a Pastor.

He continually urged his colleagues to focus on the lived reality of those they were called to serve

Our world has lost a great Godly man today 🙏

BTW there are various AI errors in this video giving a reason to #register for the #Guernsey election...
Can you spot & list them...?
Young #Guernsey needs a reason to #vote - this idea will enable them to buy a house & give them hope that they can stay/return here

It would be unique to Guernsey, enabling them to benefit from their employers' matched payments, saving £ks in first 10 yrs!
