Have been seeing a lot of speculation with linking players to Saudi clubs. I don’t think most understand that the Saudi clubs would have to sell before they could buy as they are already at the cap of over 21 aged foreign players.
I would take any links you see with a pinch of salt.

Todays thread is all about player wages to income ratio. Now this is a very important number due to one set of rules. And that rule is called Squad Cost (SCR). UEFA added this from the beginning of the 23/24 season but the monitoring period was actually from January 1st 2023 to December 31st 2023

Today’s thread is about youth development costs and trying to estimate the possible deductions a club like Newcastle might get for PSR.

Since the takeover in 2021 the academy has drastic investment. Under the rules each category 1 academy must have a minimum of £2.5m spent on it each season.

Was just discussing this on X and thought I would it here.

I want to explain how Newcastle was unlucky due to the timing of their qualification to the CL.

Newcastle qualified for the CL in 22/23 with them taking part in the group stage in 23/24. And that was the first season of the new rules.

With the recent threads I did about clubs accounts coming out and PSR calculations I wanted to do a small thread on one of the deductibles which is infrastructure. But more importantly the planning stage and how that can affect the calculations.

I did a thread earlier about PSR and the annual accounts that are usually announced this time of year but realised I missed something important out.

As we can see that clubs back by March 31st must give their two previous years and a prediction for the current year to the PL.

It is that time of year again when clubs start to announce their FY24 accounts for the season 23/24. I thought I would do this small thread to remind people not to take losses on those accounts as 100% proof of a clubs losses. I will be explaining why.

What a great 35mins of football. I seriously think Saka could break Henry’s assist record. And Odegaard has been so good this half.

Have seen a few posts where fans especially non Arsenal fans don’t know why Arsenal has shareholder loans. So this thread will help to explain it. So feel free to link to others to help them understand.

Thank you Yates for just being yourself. A great start to the weekend. Now let’s get a 3rd a wrap up this match.

Jesus really needs a good game to help with his confidence. I am just not sure this was the best game for him. The two Forest CBs have been very good this season. Which is why I can see us trying to play on the ground more as they are both very good in the air.

I think it will be 2-0 / 2-1

With the news of the APT vote today and the recent news that Arsenal is looking at expand the stadium it made me think how that might be funded.Another shareholder loan would just add more interest on the current payments. The club already owes £280m and adding an extra 20k seats will be expensive.

Have seen a few people asking if £5m per year added to the PSR calculations will affect the club. And the answer is no. The club for the 23/24 season had a very decent PSR headroom. When people look at the club’s spending they also forget that the club has quite high deductibles.

For any Arsenal fans out there and was wondering how today’s vote effect the club.
Arsenal took the shareholder loans between summer 2020 and summer 2021. So before the December 14th 2021 rule change.
Arsenal already pays FMV interest under UEFA rules.

1/2

Hearing the news on the 16-4 vote for APT amendments is unsurprising. The key part was always going to be how shareholder loan interest was handled. If they made it that current ones was exempt then of course the clubs were to vote it through.
The PL can’t hit clubs retrospectively on them.

With all the talk about the PL vote tomorrow (if it takes place). And one thing came to mind. I am not sure that I am keen on clubs being able to abstain from a vote. That there has been some big ones in the past. Reading abstained in the PSR vote. Had they voted no it wouldn’t have passed.

I have often wondered about the PL meetings. If it is just owners that get the minutes of the meeting or do all shareholders get them. As they must want to limit who sees them but also to stop leaks.
But then how do some know the vote counts as the PL don’t announce them.
