I don’t like Meta’s attitude at all but moves like these are a logical step.
Reminds me of copyright link taxes where platforms choose not to allow such content. The answer from regulators is to eventually force carrying (and policing) content.

Meta is ending all political, electoral, and social issue ads across the EU in October 2025, a response to the new EU regulations on political ad transparency. The move protects Meta from "legal uncertainty". It also means fewer civic campaigns and less visibility for smaller political voices.

It is my opinion that introducing age verification now is irresponsible, mainly because we have now reached the point where Western governments *are* using "the database state" and exploiting online surveillance to be repressive - just as privacy activists warned for decades. This applies to UK & US
