From its inception to the height of its pomp in the mid-teens of this century, SCOTUSblog was an absolute treasure - for me and other flacks looking to keep our firms at the forefront of appellate conversation. But life is complicated, and sometimes the wine of happy memories turns to vinegar.
Leading SCOTUS attorney Tom Goldstein was charged with tax crimes for allegedly failing to report millions of dollars he won in poker matches. He faces 22 different charges, including tax evasion and preparing false and fraudulent tax returns, according to the indictment reut.rs/4hhETEt

Trying to update our clients on the twists and turns of CTA compliance this month and especially this holiday week has been exhausting to say the least
"The Fifth Circuit merits panel has vacated the Fifth Circuit motion panel's stay of the District Court's preliminary injunction" is a sentence I just wrote in an email on Boxing Day.
The Corporate Transparency Act case trundles on. While the en banc petition on the motions panel’s stay was pending, the brand new merits panel of the Fifth Circuit reinstates the stay itself. So all you compliance people at companies can chill.
