I’m happy to announce that my essay “To Protect a Hen”—about the time I found myself engaged in mortal combat with a hawk—is now published in Inkwell Magazine.

Last night I dreamed I pooped a gorgeous custard, in a swirl like it came out of a soft serve machine.

I’m sure I would have won The Great British Bake-Off with this masterpiece, though I’d struggle with the ethics when it came to describing my technique.

I used to wait on him at the Hard Rick Cafe when I was in college. He would mock me endearingly, making fun of my shyness. He knows how to make you love him.

It was a collective decision: Give the branch in Madison Square Park the “selective” branding. Throw some Brooklyn chic circa 2010 dark wood slats on the facade. People will feel super comfy munching while they experience the familiarity of the fuzzy line between satire and commerce.

Diana Ross sang, “Whenever you’re near, I hear a symphony / a tender melody.” May we inspire each other to feel the music!

I’ll be live Friday night, with 2 hours of music about music! This is a fall fund drive edition of The Mixtape, 7-9.

Tonight on The Mixtape, 60s girl groups go moody, , menacing, psychedelic. Teens know things the rest of us don't, and maybe that's why they scare people.

7 PM ET on #radiocatskill. Streaming and archived at wjffradio.org.

My request is simple: I would like someone to send me to London to see one of these two Everything But the Girl shows at MOTH Club.

Seriouslsy: Does anybody know if they're doing more of these?

We all know that feeling of collapse these days. And we know music can heal, right? Doe Paoro makes good on that power with her new album. Check out my interview with her, all about music as a healing art.

Masta Ace on Eminem's influence: "

"Just the willingness to say stuff that’s a little bit outside of what you would expect a rapper to say. Having that courage just to be a little bit further out there."

Watching Bowie's "Lazarus" video just now, the refrain "Ain't that just like me?," has so many meanings. One of them is his talent for finding the carnal in the metaphysical and vice versa: "I was looking for your ass." Bowie reminded me of John Done this time around. (Poems below)

@traceythorn.bsky.social: In college, when studying feminist theory, "Me and Bobby D" made it real for me--and I started to see the dynamic everywhere. Chat GPT, notorious liar, claims Bobby D isn't a reference to anyone in particular. I always thought Bobby Darin. My husband suggested Bob Dylan.
